1796 PATTERN FLANK OFFICERS SWORD NAMED

1796 Pattern sword, ivory grip usually associated with General or Staff Officers, lion back strap, stirrup hilt, langets engraved with owners name "J.Gagen", blue and gilt blade, maker Woolley & Deakin & Co in oval, 1801-1810 Royal Arms, the other side Stand of Arms and Crowned GR cyphir, scabbard gilt brass mounts, top locket with frog stud and engraved with retailers name " Salter Sword Cutler & Jeweller 35 Strand", scabbard leather with much original surface finish.Sword never fitted with sling rings only used with a frog. Blade 710mm.

Salter active 35 Strand 1801-1824. Woolley & Deakin & Co trading under this name 1805-1806.

A fine sword. Much original gilt to brass, excellent blade with bright blue and gilt, scabbard with much original finish,minor service dinges to mounts, couple of chips to ivory hilt filled.
