Light Cavalry Officers Sword c.1800 regimentally marked to the 14th (King's) Hussars

Steel mounted Light Cavalry Officers sword with stirrup hilt, side ring infill with 3 lozenges,sword knot ring, ribbed leather grip with twisted wire of 3 strands, 655mm curved blade etched both sides with mounted hussar, crowned GR cyphir, figure of Britannia and trophy of arms. the scabbard of leather with tooling of saltire crosses. lines and below the middle band X1111 for 14th (King's) Hussars ? and terminating with a tooled pendant device.

The steel mounts patinated,the grip with some worm holes, the blade bright with some patination and slight pitting mainly towards the tip, the scabbard supple with sound stitching and good surface finish. On the whole an excellent example.
