Royal Navy full dress coatee named to George Arthur Scott. Captain of HMS Belfast 1939-1940.
Full dress coatee, name tag to interior to G. A. Scott, medal loops to right breast for DSC, 1915 Trio.Comes with epaulettes, agiulettes,full dress belt and sword slings and a bicorn. Bicorn in poor but presentable condition having splits to the body and beaver skin, the lining has some deterioration.
Captain George Arthur Scott was serving aboard HMS Severn during her time in the Rufigi Delta, East |Africa, taking part in the two epic engagements against the Konigsberg in July 1915. ( See " Konigsberg Adventure" by E. Keble Chatterton pages 155-197 for full details of this action.) During the Second World War Scott became the first officer to command HMS Belfast, now preserved on the River Thames London, and was serving aboard her when she was mined in November 1939.
Medals awarded to Scott sold through auction rooms of Dix Noonan Webb 4th April 2001 comprising DSC, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal with M.I.D. oakleaf. ( Lt. Commr R.N. ), 1939-45 Star, Defence and War Medals, Jubilee 1935, Coronation 1937, French Croix De Guerre 1914-17. DSC London Gazette 10th July 1919 " For Distinguished services in HMS Severn".
