Pair of 40 bore Flintlock Boxlock Pocket Pistols c.1815 by Stevens, London

A pair of good quality 40 bore flintlock boxlock pocket pistols c.1815 by Stevens, London ( probably James Stevens, 42 High Holborn),162mm overall, turn off barrels 45mm with fern tip engraved bands around muzzles, Birmingham proved, with raised pans, rollers on frizzen springs, top safeties which also secure the frizzens, and hidden triggers, the frames nicely engraved with trophies and flowers, and with "Stevens, London" in ovals, walnut slab butts with chequered back edges and rectangular silver escutcheons.

Good working order and generally quite crisp condition.
